Final Project: Motion Graphics

WEEK 1-2

Fig 1.1 Identify Sensitive Scenes

During the first lesson, we were to identify the scenes that we think might be difficult for us to illustrate.

After that, we looked for motion graphic references on YouTube to create our mood board. Also, we need to sketch out 3 style frames from the sensitive scenes identified.


WEEK 3

We breakdown the script into frames. We have 21 frames in total, so each of us will be in charged of three frames. Unlike other groups, our group decided that everyone will illustrate and animate the frames distributed, so that we can all participate in the whole process.

Frame 1-3: Jolean
Frame 4-6: Chze Huang
Frame 7-9: Jo Min
Frame 10-12: Kah Man (Carmen)
Frame 13-15: Evaleez
Frame 16-18: Huiwen (Ashley)
Frame 19-21: Britney

WEEK 4-6

Before drawing the final illustrations, we created an animatic by syncing the sketches and the audio. After we got approval from Mr Martin and Ms Anis, we proceed illustrating the scenes.

WEEK 6-7

We illustrated by referring to the motion graphics created by Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell. We reused some of the assets that repeated in different scenes to save time.

WEEK 7-8

When we finish illustrating the frames, we import the Illustrator file into After Effects to animate, and also add sound effects.

Overall is okay, remember to add sound effects.

REFLECTION

The whole process was quite fun. Although we were already given the script and voice over, it is still fascinating to see how we produce the whole motion graphic. Motion graphic is so much different from what I had leant in semester 1, and I am glad to see that I have become more familiar with After Effects.
